Ilomantsi Museum Association commissioned me to make this children's picture book called "A Summer Day in Möhkö Ironworks" in 2003. After researching the topic I wrote the story and made the illustrations with watercolour and sepia ink. The book tells about life in a little village called Möhkö in easternmost Finland in the early 1900s. The main characters are two children, Anni and Antti, whose father works in the Möhkö Ironworks factory. These days the factory functions as a museum and offers a fascinating chance to see how iron was made in the old days and what life was like for both the owners of the factory and ordinary workers.
